The sociology of education as a professional development subject

LEBLANC, Dominic

How can the sociology of education serve education professionals? Why should it be considered a continuing education subject? In what ways does it contribute to thinking and practices in the school environment? This text seeks to make college teachers, professionals and managers aware that sociology, and especially the sociology of education, can be a relevant field for professional development and continuing education. Sociology provides a better understanding of school situations and their articulations, while challenging some of their foundations. Thus, college professionals should not hesitate to strive for sociological development.
