Has the time come for the CEEC (Commission d'évaluation de l'enseignement collégial) to do a self-evaluation?

Desautels, Luc

Under the Free opinion header, the authors of this article mark the 15th anniversary of the creation of the CEEC (Commission d'évaluation de l'enseignement collégiale) by providing an assessment of its contribution to the college milieu. The authors begin by reviewing the situation that prevailed when the CEEC was first created and underline the discrepancies in the colleges’ expectation and the work required of them in order to meet the CEEC’s requests. The authors believe that introducing a homogenous culture of evaluation has had and continues to have a major impact in colleges, both in terms of human resources and on a financial level. Highlighting the progress made so far, the authors raise a few questions likely to provoke serious debate in the college network and among policy makers. They also present elements of possible solutions and express the wish that the CEEC proceed with a self-evaluation.
