Although there are now some publications on curriculum evaluation in Quebec, few deal with the fundamental issue of how to make the process useful and credible. As this is the basic premise of Bédard’s review, readers can be safe in assuming that the same question lies at the core of the book itself, which discusses the foundations and outcome of such a process. Models, theories, steps, procedures, principles, and modelling tools are all explored in L’évaluation de programme axée sur le jugement credible, which contains writings by theoreticians and practitioners from all over the globe. In Bédard’s view, the ideas contained in this collection are both instructive and illuminating, and all the more relevant because they focus on an issue that has not really been explored to date: the role played by judgment in evaluation.
