Faire équipe pour mieux construire
In this interview, Raymond Labbé examines the mechanics and the repercussions of a joint extracurricular project between the programs of Technologie de l’architecture at Cégep Lévis-Lauzon, and Technologie du genie civil et de la Technologie de la mécanique du bâtiment at Cégep Limoilou– Charlesbourg Campus. Explaining the specific characteristics of each program, the teacher goes on to describe the experiment undertaken by the students within the scope of the competency: “coordinating the documents of an architectural project” developed in the Technologie de l’architecture program. The matter of pedagogical principles underlying the project is touched upon as well as the difference between training provided in a working environment and that provided at college. In terms of repercussions, Mr. Labbé insists on the importance of linking students’ learning to the targeted competency and mentions the positive impact of the project on the professional progression of the students. Among difficulties encountered, in addition to the physical distance between participating colleges, the author mentions the difference in learning contexts—the artistic field and the scientific field—which led the students to go beyond the borders of their respective disciplines and make the necessary compromises to ensure the success of the project.
