The Impact of College Centres for the Transfer of Technology on College Training
Present in all key sectors of the Quebec economy, the college centres for the transfer of technologies (CCTT) offer Quebec enterprises and organizations the opportunity for technological development. In providing a brief history of CCTTs and their impact on college training using two concrete examples from their personal experience at TransBioTech and the Centre de technologie minérale et de plasturgie (CTMP), the authors of this article retrace the origins of CCTTs and their evolution over the past 25 years. In doing so, they explain the impact of CCTTs on college education, in particular by drawing attention to the fact that these centres provide college personnel and students with a unique research and experimentation platform and that they also allow for the most recent research developments to be included in programs during revisions or development stages. The authors also highlight the CCTTs’ contribution to pedagogical life in college, particularly with regard to cooperative education, the organization of student work placements, the accessibility of technological equipment and computers as well as the organization of events that enable the training of personnel and promote the colleges’ influence.
The Centre de documentation collégiale (CDC) offers an extensive collection of documents on college-level education and on education in general, produced by professionals in leading facilities and organizations.
